June 22nd: Commodore Ayers and Rosalind will host the Kick Off party, beginning at 5:30. Please call Rosalind with your menu contributions. Directions
August 17th: Pat Mudge will host a potluck dinner, beginning at 5:3Opm. Call Pat with your menu contributions. Directions
July 13th: Please review the meeting agenda and complete the attached reservation form. Dues are past due! PMYC Bylaws state “Any member not paying dues by April 1 will be considered delinquent and ineligible to participate in the affairs of the club until dues are paid”.
Tag Sale and Exchange: Again this year, a tag sale will be held. Nautical items/paraphernalia should be in good condition and may include books, anchors, radar, sails, boats, navigational software, etc. Please mark the items you wish to sell with the price. Proceeds go to PMYC.
An early Tag Sale Entry: Harold Riding has the Stephanie Ann for sale. She's a 1983 25' Catalina Sloop in excellent condition. An easy boat to sail with a swing keel, 3 sails, R/F, Loran, radio, compass, sink, stove, ice box, popup cabin, Marine head, holding tanks. Has a 1988 9.9hp LS electric start Johnson w/alternator. Asking $6,700. Call Skip.
August 4th: The Hemenway Regatta is scheduled to start at 12 noon on Sunday. There is no entry fee but you must be a current member of FMYC. All boats entering should be at the start line with adequate time to prepare. Starting times are staggered based on handicap, so check your scheduled time. There will be no skippers meeting prior to the race, so contact the Committee Boat on VHF Channel 68 if you have any questions.
The course and procedure will be the same as last year. Handicap sheets with start times and course layout will be distributed at the Lobster Bake. If you do not plan to be at the bake, please contact Andy Anderson and arrange to pick up the material prior to the regatta. The following boats are included in our master handicap format: SERENO, BLUE MIST, ALLEGRO, SUNRISE, STEPHANIE ANN, HALCYON, SANDY, MONTAYA, MORNING MIST, AIRLIA, CRACKER JACK, FIRST SALUTE, HOOLIGAN, TUITION 2, GUILLIEMOT, ALEMAX, ARGONAUT, NO NAME (Rhodes 19). The committee boat will check you off if you are at the start line on time; no other notice is necessary. If your boat is not listed and you plan to enter, please send the following information to Andy Anderson, 530 Rays Point Rd, Milbridge, ME, 04658, no later than July 1st:
Your name, name of boat, make of boat, length of boat, type of rig, sailing experience.
In the event the race is cancelled due to weather, the post regatta party will still be held as scheduled. If you have any questions regarding race cancellation; call Andy the morning of the race, before 9am. Any members with power boats suitable for the waters of Pleasant Bay, are welcome to join the sailing fleet as chase boats, to lend any assistance that may be required.
Post Regatta Party: Alan Krulisch and Kathleen Hart will host the hors d’oeurve potluck immediately following the Hemenway Regatta, August 4th. Tides are right for arriving by boat. Call Alan or Kathleen for navigational info. Directions All club members and guests are welcome, regardless of regatta participation.
Cruise West: Contact the Commodore for more information. Tentatively planned. for late August.
July 8th through July 11th (daily): Sailing school will be held from 10:00am to 11:30am. The Ed Greaves Education Centers (EdGE) will be held from 11:30am to 1:00pm. July 12th: Sailing school from 12:00 to 1:3Opm.
July 15th, 16th and i7th:v EdGE from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.
July 22nd: 9-11am; July 23rd: l0am-l2noon; July 24th: llam-lpm; July 25th: 12-2pm; July 26th: 12-2pm
Call George or Deb Arey by July 2nd to enroll students.
As a reminder, the minimum age for sailing school is 10 years old as of July 8, 2002.
Due to expanded waterfront activity, additional volunteers are needed through this summer and early fall. Please call George or Deb if you are willing to help.
