RULES FOR SAILING PMYC SAILBOATS

The PMYC sailboats are a valuable resource available to all members, and it is important that all members feel free to sail the boats. But in the interest of safety multiple instructors & chase boats will supervise all Sailing School programs. Safety Rules for all other club sailing are as follows:

  1. PFD or life jacket must be worn on docks and in boats
  2. There must be a PMYC member in every boat
  3. Category I — SURVIVORS: Those with knowledge of sailing who can survive a capsize by righting the boat, empty the water, and sail on. They can sail with shore communication upstream from Chamberly Island. Beyond Chamberly Island must have chase boat in visual contact.
  4. Category II — SAILORS Those with knowledge of sailing but have not demonstrated they can capsize and sail on. Must have chase boat in visual contact at all times.
  5. Category III — BEGINNERS Those with no knowledge of sailing must have a sailor in the boat with them at all times.

2007 PMYC Racing

Two racing events will be held in 2007 for cruiser style sailboats:

The Hemenway Regatta race course will again be in the vicinity of Baldwin Head. The complete race instructions, including the Practice and Tune-up Race, will be posted to the PMYC web site when they become available. Information for the kayak race will also be included on the website.
